Ultimately became a part owner in the Taft Corp. and Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for management of Taft Products and Taft & McKibben, a consulting firm specializing in nonprofit organization management, marketing, and fund development. Clients included the Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities, Forbes Health System, National Council on the Aging, National Endowment for the Arts, New York Botanical Gardens, Urban Land Institute, Wayne State University, World Wildlife Fund.
1973 to 1974 - R.J. Brady Co., Washington, DC.
Employed as Marketing Director and given responsibility for new product development, marketing and sales. R.J. Brady publishes educational aids ranging from self training systems to in service teacher training materials.

Notable Accomplishments
While working as a copy writer, work won nine awards for excellence in advertising including an Olaf Award for best advertisement of the year, six "most read" awards for advertisements appearing in national trade publications, a special recognition award from the National Association of Home Economics Teachers for his work on General Mills' "Home Maker of the Year" scholarship program, and a special recognition award from the National Association for Industrial Safety for a White Motor Corp. fork lift truck safety campaign.
While under contract to the National Endowment for the Arts, directed the evaluations of approximately 1,400 arts organizations throughout the United States that applied for challenge grants. Reported directly to the National Arts Council and wrote a summary of findings that helped install the challenge as an important tool for increasing the effectiveness of NEA funding.
As a founding member of the board of CommunityWorks, Inc. in Helena, was instrumental in developing the concepts for, raising funds for and building ExplorationWorks, a museum of science and culture located in downtown Helena.
